i would just like to share how i have been delivered from a few things. About 5 weeks ago on Friday night after service i felt moved to go up and ask for prayer for my 8th attempt at quitting smoking. Right before i went up to the alter i remember feeling convicted about something that pastor said. He said that sometimes you have to make the first step before the LORD will just take something from you. Or should i say inter seed on your behalf. i thought to myself "i just want him to take this from me". Which i laugh about now but then it was very serious thought. i told you this because it lead to what i have to tell you about next.
i had been listening to a brother by the name of Paul Washer. If you don't know him check him out. The one thing that had been ringing in my ear for at least a week from one of his sermons was the important thing about knowing about CHRIST. It wasn't that i knew HIM but that HE knew me. That when HE comes back HE points and says not that one he is mine I know him. That notion put a sense of conviction in me that i never felt before. Does HE know me? Someone as insignificant as a grain of sand? Someone that has sinned against HIM throughout my life as i have? Someone who in the past has heard every call, every warning and turned my head and ignored it? That Friday night when i went up to get prayer for "smoking" i didn't know that the brother that was to come up and pray with me was to be used by the SPIRIT to confirm that HE does know me. As he began to pray for me he stopped and said something to me. Now i have never met this man standing in front of me yet he looked in my eyes and said with boldness. "You have never known your father" and then continued to thought the SPIRIT tell me that HE knows me and that i am to look to HIM as my father from now on. As i wept like a small boy he gave a command that the spirit of fear be gone from me. My friends i stand today as a broken man fearing nothing but the wrath of GOD HIMSELF.
Now to go back to the beginning of this story i would like to tell you that since that night i was sparked with a desire for nothing more than HIM. And i took that first step. And that first step is about all i did. 7 times prior i have been a proven failure with the patch, with the pill, the gum, the nicotine free cigarettes, switching to dip and so on and so forth. for the first time i took a leap of faith in HIM and HE responded to take this 18 year addiction from me. And i take no glory in it at all it is all HIM.
i am very thankful for your church services on Friday nights because i cant make the Sunday services due to work. Thank you and may we all know and "do" GODS will in our lives.
