CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
At Destiny we believe in small group and individualized instruction. Curriculum is guided by New York State and national standards. Bible study takes place daily along with weekly chapel services.
Bible Class
A comprehensive study of the Word of God, Old & New Testaments, is taught daily in all grades.
Language Arts
Topics covered include: writing descriptive, persuasive, informative, elements of a story, the writing process, grammar, diagramming, research
Reading
Resources: Houghton Mifflin text and much independent reading; class lessons may span up to three or more grade levels of diversified academics. Grades 7 & 8 utilize curriculum by McDougall Litell.
Mathematics
Resources: Houghton Mifflin, McDougall-Litell and hands-on.
Science
Resources: Scott Foresman, Houghton Mifflin, McDougall Litell and hands-on experiments.
Spanish
Spanish is taught beginning in Kindergarten through the 8th grade*. (*8th Grade begins in September of the 2009-2010 school year.)
Social Studies
Resources: Scott Foresman, Houghton Mifflin, McDougall Litell text materials plus newspapers and online research .
